Luck Of Macrea was a 1:59.4 winner on Thursday at Saratoga.

The 3-year-old trotter competed in the Jim Derue Memorial Series in recent weeks, but didn’t have better than a third place finish to show for it.

Frank Coppola Jr. recorded his 5,000th career driving victory last week while sitting behind claiming trotter Diamond Tough for owner Mike Polansky. On Thursday, Coppola moved Polansky’s Luck Of Macrea three wide around the final turn before the sophomore highstepper cruised past his rivals in the lane before setting a new lifetime mark of 1:59.4.

Dismissed at odds of 7-1, Luck Of Macrea won for the third time this season.

Coppola drove the Polansky-owned Turn It Up Loud (Art’s Conquest) to an upset win later on the card as the pacer swooped the group in 1:53.4 while scoring at odds of 29-1.

Both Luck Of Macrea and Turn It Up Loud are trained by Margaret Spagnola.

Live racing continues on Friday with first post time set for 6:45 p.m.
