Lydeo overpowering in $22,000 Meadows Series final

Washington, PA — Lydeo overpowered the field with a quick backside burst and rolled on to a convincing victory in Wednesday’s (April 27) $22,000 championship of the Ruby Cook Memorial Pace for 3-year-old fillies at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 3-5 favorite with a win and a second in the preliminary legs, Lydeo grabbed the early lead but was shuffled slightly to third by the half. When Hunter Myers moved her first over, the daughter of Sweet Lou-Show The World cleared to the point in a heartbeat and triumphed in 1:52.4. Bet On The Bay, who lacked racing room until it was too late, was an unlucky second, 3-3/4 lengths back, while Bettingfra finished third at 80-1.

Randy Bendis trains Lydeo, who has won six of eight career starts, and owns with Reed Broadway and Pollack Racing LLC.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 11-race program features a pair of carryovers — $7,994.59 in the Jackpot Pick-5 (race four), $1,055.90 in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
