Lying In Cash defeats Southwind Amazon in Northville Open

Northville, MI — Lying In Cash won his third consecutive race on Saturday evening (Oct. 9) at Northville Downs, defeating track record holder Southwind Amazon in 1:53.4 in the $10,800 Open Pace.

Driver Jason Merriman left hard for the lead with Lying In Cash before yielding for a pocket ride behind Southwind Amazon (driven by Art McIlmurray) just past the quarter pole.

As they turned for home, it appeared Amazon was going to open up, but Merriman asked Lying in Cash for more. The 6-year-old Aracache Hanover gelding closed the gap and popped the pocket to blow by the leader in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length.
