Driver Jason Merriman and Lying in Cash left fast off the car to settle into the pocket behind pacesetter Big Bang Boom and driver Marc St. Louis, Jr., who looked to have stolen the race at the half by posting a half-mile time in :57.2, a second quarter breather of :29.4.

However, after posting a third panel in :28.4, Big Bang Boom turned for home only to brace for the coming onslaught of Lying in Cash, the pocket rocket. The aforementioned pacesetter had no response in the lane as Lying In Cash cruised home to a two-length victory.

Lying in Cash is conditioned by owner/trainer Techia Lohmann.  It was the 26th career victory for the pacing gelding.
