In the featured trot, MacDonald let two foes go by early, then got Can’t Say No underway midway through the first turn before claiming the top past the :27.4 quarter. After baking off the half to :57.4 and three-quarters to 1:26.4, the 4-year-old son of Explosive Matter had enough left in the dash to the line, winning by three-quarters of a length over Banzai As in a game 1:55.4.

Trainer Ray Schnittker co-owns Can’t Say No with Steven Arnold, Arden Homestead Stable and Fred Hertrich III. In his last eight starts, Can’t Say No suffered interference once but otherwise posted three wins and four second-place finishes

As for Gray Dragon, he won his fifth consecutive start over the Pocono oval, the last four of them in this company. The 4-year-old son of Dragon Again followed the cover of Mankat past a :26.2 opener, then overtook that foe going towards the second turn before the :54.2 half. The field narrowed in a bit nearing the 1:22.4 three-quarters and through the far turn, before MacDonald asked Gray Dragon for more speed. He responded impressively, with his :27.3 kicker completing a 1:50.2 mile for trainer John Butenschoen and Emerald Highlands Farm.
