MacDonald talks Coleman filly trio

Campbellville, ON — With the Eternal Camnation Stakes now behind us, driver Mark MacDonald remains very optimistic about the future of trainer Casie Coleman’s fillies, Pretty Katherine, Idyllic and Mater Deo. All three 2-year-old fillies won their Eternal Camnation Stakes divisions.

Pretty Katherine posted the most impressive victory among the three as she set a Canadian record of 1:50.4 in just her third career start. That mile was just one-fifth of a second off the world record set by A and G’s Confusion.

Before this past weekend Casie Coleman was unsure which one of her fillies would peak into the spotlight and be the dominate one but MacDonald was always very optimistic about Pretty Katherine and it certainly showed in her most recent outing.

“I’ve loved Pretty Katherine since the first day I went with her. I trained her when she was in about 2:20 and I’ve always liked her a lot. She’s so mature and has that perfect gait,” MacDonald commented to WEG’s media department.

MacDonald also noted that Pretty Katherine was well in hand winning in 1:50.4.

“She was real awesome and to be honest she did that very easily. I pulled the ear plugs because she got looking at the flags and the jumbotron and that goes to show just how much speed she has,” MacDonald stated.

All three fillies are eligible to the She’s A Great Lady Stakes with eliminations taking place this Saturday (August 28) at Mohawk Racetrack.
