Mach It So wins Saturday night 44G Open Handicap Pace

Yonkers, NY — Mach it So (Joe Bongiorno, $8) bottomed out his four rivals Saturday night (Nov. 10th), winning Yonkers Raceway’s $44,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Leaving outside his foes—and in one notch after a defection—Mach it So seemingly had a three-length lead four steps out the gate.

That ended the suspense portion of the program, as he did the required roadwork (:27, :55.3, 1:22.4, 1:51.4) with no competition. Bettor Memories (Jason Bartlett) did edge a loosely-pocketed 6-5 favorite Great Vintage (Mark MacDonald) for second—beaten 2½ lengths—with Techtor Hanover (Dan Dube) and I’m Some Graduate (George Brennan) completing the order of payees.

For the second choice, Mach it So, a double-millionaire Mach Three gelding owned by Bamond Racing and trained by Jeff Bamond Jr., it was his ninth win in 27 seasonal starts (career 49-for-147). The exacta paid $37, with triple and superfecta wagering canceled due to field size, or lack thereof.
