Mach To The Max won the J.P. Morel Memorial Pacing Series final on Sunday afternoon.
Mach To The Max made his local debut in April and despite being a beaten favorite in his first two Saratoga starts, entered the Pacing Series as the one to beat. The Jackie Rousse-trained 3-year-old held on to prevail in the first leg of the series and jogged in leg two to the tune of a 3-1/2 length win.
The 1-9 betting favorite in Sunday’s $18,100 final, Mach To The Max marched out to the early lead and never faced a challenge until pocket sitting Regalwood took a crack at him in the stretch.
Under just mild urging from driver Billy Dobson, Mach To The Max prevailed by a length, stopping the timer in a career best 1:55. Regalwood (Jim Devaux) finished second while Pan Of Outsiders (Wally Hennessey) earned the show spot.
Live racing resumes on Thursday night at Saratoga with a first post set for 6:45 p.m.
