Maestro Blue Chip wins 13th of year in Dover feature

Dover, DE — Tim Tetrick drove Maestro Blue Chip to his 13thvictory of a $238,000 winning season to win the $20,000 Open Handicap trot atDover Downs on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Maestro Blue Chip took the Open Handicap trot in 1:54.1 on Wednesday at Dover Downs.

Purchased a year ago by Richard Pollucci, the handsome sonof Credit Winner-Up Front Holsey raced off-the-pace until rushing to thelead on the final turn and sped to a 1:54.1 score. Celebrity Pegasus (ArtStafford Jr.) closed well to finish second in front of mid-Western invader IlMago (Vic Kirby).Maestro Blue Chip has now earned $316,673 lifetime. The winwas third of four during the day for Tetrick.

The fast Delaware-bred Go Byem made a big move on thebackstretch to take the lead and Jim Morand drove his fourth winner on the cardcoasting to a 1:54.1 decision in $15,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Winners-Over trotsecondary feature. Delbert Cain and Nanticoke Racing own the Impel Hanover-GoSassy Go gelding who won for the third time in 2016. Uva Hanover (Tetrick) wasthe early leader and finished second. Royal Becca J (Jack Parker Jr.) tookthird.

Owner Pollucci, trainer King and driver Tetrick combined towin the $12,000 conditioned trot with Frost Free Hanover, also with a 1:54.1clocking for his third win of the year. Steel Reserve (Kirby) and TiradeHanover (Corey Callahan) pick up second and third money respectively.

In addition to four wins by Jim Morand and three for TimTetrick, driver Vic Kirby and trainers Les Givens and Leigh Raymer had doubles.

Four lucrative Matron 2-year-old colt and filly paces andtrots, and four Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund $20,000 freshman eventshead a big Thursday card.
