The Maine Gambling Control Board says it is not yet ready to take on additional regulation responsibilities, according to a story in the Portland (Maine) Press Herald.

Maine state law requires that board to report on the possibility of consolidating oversight for other areas of gambling, such as high stakes bingo and harness racing. The Board has been in existence for only four months and is charged with licensing the slots operation at Bangor Raceway. The board is expected to report that they may be ready to take on more duties by January of 2006.
