Maine Standardbred Breeders Stakes contested

Bangor, ME — The Maine Standardbred Breeders Stakes kicked off with a bang Wednesday night (June 21) at Bangor Raceway.

Two divisions of freshman pacing colts fired the stake season off with a victory coming from Hoppi (Western Maverick-Barbra Ann) in the opening $10,187 division in 2:00, holding off a late charge from Twelve. Kevin Switzer does the training for KDK Standardbreds and Florence O’Keefe. Kevin Switzer Jr. handled the driving.

The other $10,188 division went to Eddie Davis Jr.’s gelding Thankyouallmyfans (Baron Biltmore-Holme In A Moment), owned by Eddie Davis Jr., Janet Davis and Janice Watkinson. Eddie Davis Jr. also did the driving in a winning time of 2:03.1.

Maine stakes continue this Saturday at Scarborough Downs with two divisions of 2-year-old pacing fillies. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
