Manchego continues in No. 1 spot in Poll

Hightstown, NJ — There was little movement in this week’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll, with Bluegrass Stakes division winner Stay Hungry enjoying the biggest improvement in the Top 10, going from No. 10 to eighth.
Manchego, who was idle, was No. 1 for the third consecutive week. There were no newcomers to the Top 10.
Following is a look at how the remaining horses in the Top 10 fared last week: Courtly Choice, idle; Atlanta, second in preferred on Sept. 25 at Woodbine Mohawk Park; Shartin N, idle; Marion Marauder, idle; McWicked, third in Dayton Pacing Derby on Sept. 28 at Dayton; Kissin In The Sand, won Bluegrass Stakes on Sept. 29 at Red Mile; Crystal Fashion, idle; Lather Up, idle.
The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The U.S. Harness Writers Association votes in December on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.
