Mandatory payout for Northfield Single Six

Northfield, OH — MGM Northfield Park has received permission from the Ohio State Racing Commission to have a mandatory payout of the entire Single Six pool on Wednesday (Nov. 27).

The 20-cent Single Six is a unique combination Pick-6 wager held nightly on races nine through 14. The wager has not been solved by a single combination winner in over six weeks, and the carryover pool has grown to an all-time high $119,850.83 heading into Northfield’s Saturday (Nov. 23) program.

“There are still four cards of racing (Nov. 23, 24, 25 and 26) before the mandatory payout date for the Single Six, so there is no guarantee that we will have a six-figure carryover going into the Wednesday program,” said Dave Bianconi, Northfield Park’s executive vice president of racing and simulcasting. “There are no provisions in the rules for the wager to be suspended, so it will go on as normal until Wednesday the 27th, when we will have a mandatory payout of the entire pool, whether the carryover is $150,000 or $0. We have had a couple of near misses this week of players taking down the entire pool, so it could certainly happen any time we race. I’d love to see the big carryover last until Wednesday, because I’m sure it could swell to over $500,000 that night. If it is hit before then, you just have to tip your cap to the handicapper who takes it down and start the cycle all over.”

Post time for the Thanksgiving Eve card on Wednesday night (Nov. 27) is 6 p.m. Eastern.
