March toward Prix d’Amerique begins Sunday

The march towards the Grand Prix d’Amerique at the Vincennes track in Paris starts Sunday (Nov. 18) with the first of the four prep races, the Grand Prix de Bretagne.

15 trotters are engaged in the race, which is contested over 2700 meters – 1-11/16 miles – the same distance as the Prix d’Amerique.

The first three finishers in the Bretagne will advance to the Prix d’Amerique.

Bold Eagle, with regular driver Franck Nivard, is the heavy favorite, followed by a newcomer in open class trotting, 5-year-old Davidson Du Pont, who will be driven by Jean Michel Bazire.

Last year, the race was won by Valko Jenilat and driver Eric Raffin, who also are entered in tomorrow’s race.

Defending Prix d’Amerique champion Readly Express of Sweden is still back in Sweden, as is Propulsion, who finished third.

The three other prep races are:

Prix de Bourbonnais (Dec. 9)
Prix de Bourgogne (Dec. 30)
Prix de Belgique (Jan. 13, 2019)
