Stockholm, Sweden — One of most significant and influential people, an ambassador for the sport of harness racing on both sides of the Atlantic, Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg, has died Friday (April 14). She was 85 years old.
In the United States, Ms. Wallenius-Kleberg was a member of the board of directors of the Hambletonian Society, owner of the legendary Stoner Creek Farm in Kentucky, and breeder and owner of several top trotters.
In Sweden, she owned one of the biggest most successful stud farms in the country, Menhammar Stud, and was a former member of the board at Solvalla and president of the Swedish Breeders Association.
Ms. Wallenius-Kleberg has sponsored a series of races for 3—and 4-year old-trotters every year at Solvalla – Margareta’s Tidiga Unghästserie.
