Marion “Butch” Palone Jr., 77, dies

Columbus, OH — Marion “Butch” Palone Jr., 77, of Rices Landing, Pa., died Nov. 3, 2014, at the Washington County Health Center, Washington, Pa.

He was born May 5, 1937, in Crucible, Pa., a son of the late Marion and Anna (Zupancich) Palone Sr. Mr. Palone was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson High School and resided in Dry Tavern, Greene County all of his life.

He served with the U.S. Marine Corps after the Korean Conflict in Okinawa and was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmichaels, Pa.

Mr. Palone owned and operated Butch Palone’s Auto Sales, Inc. in Dry Tavern for more than 50 years. He enjoyed golfing and watching his sons compete in harness racing at the Meadows.

On April 10, 1960, he married Geraldine “Jeanie” Swartz, who survives. Also surviving are his sons, David M. (Bethann) and Michael A.; daughter, Regina M.; grandchildren, Hannah, Alana and Sophie; sister, Louise “Doll” (Louis) Grillo; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 6) in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa., where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (Nov. 7). The Rev. Reagan Fike will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park with military services by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U.S. Marine Corps.
