Mary Hackett, 87, dies

Columbus, OH — Mary E. Hackett, 87, of Delaware, Ohio, died Oct. 30, 2015.

She was born July 12, 1928, in Ostrander, Ohio, to Wayne “Curly” and Mildred (Gabriel) Smart.

She was a member of DAR, a 1946 graduate of Willis High School, was employed by First National Bank, member St. Mary’s Church, all in Delaware, member St. Patrick Church in London.

She had a love of family and harness racing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit.

She is survived by her children, Theresa (Jim) Gilbert, Cheryl (Mitch) Ross, Susan (Dale) Kreiner, Lisa (Doug) Shaw and Tim (Patse Stephenson); grandchildren, Caitlin Wagner, Ashley Dicken, Megan Lehman, Marin Ruffing, Steven Kreiner, Gabe Ross, and Evan and Carly Shaw; great-grandchildren, Quincy and Quaid Dicken and Eleanor Wagner. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband in 1970, James Hackett, whom she married June 30, 1951; second husband in 1995, William C. Hackett, whom she married July 5, 1980; sister, June Midden; and brother-in-law, Dick Midden.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday (Nov. 3) from 5-7 p.m. at St. Patrick Parish Center, London, Ohio. Wake service at 6:45 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday (Nov. 4) at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, with Fr. Mark Ghiloni officiating. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
