Ft. Washington, MD — Numerous divisions of the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund will be held on Tuesday night (August 14) at Rosecroft Raceway, and many talented pacers and trotters will head to the gate.

In the first race, a MSRF worth $14,900 for 2-year-old pacing fillies, Snatch The Fortune will open on the board as the 9-5 morning line choice. The daughter of Cams Fortune unfortunately suffered a break in stride last time out, but shows a win at Rosecroft on July 24 in 1:56.3. Trained by Clayton Goad, Snatch The Fortune will start from post two with Jonathan Roberts in the bike. Goad co-owns the pacer with John Brown of Maryland.

Warden Woodie is another to consider at 2-1 early odds from post six. Set to be driven by John Wagner for trainer Manley Brown, Jr., the Allie’s Western filly finished third in 1:56.1 in her last start. Frederick Kessell of South Carolina owns the winner of over $13,000 lifetime.

Ashleys Lucky Lady (Frank Milby, 8-1), Allie’s San (Donnie Russell, 10-1), Scotts Girl (Vic Kirby, 4-1) and Eurobound (Wayne Long, 5-1) round out the field.

The third race, a $14,500 division for 3-year-old trotting fillies, will spotlight Ms Virginia at 9-5 early odds. The CR Commando filly, owned by Lloyd Arnold of Delaware, qualified well at Rosecroft recently, finishing second in 1:59.3 against seasoned veteran Magic Swan. Trained by Manley Brown, Jr., the filly shows a win at Rosecroft back on June 4 in 1:57.2 in the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund. John Wagner will drive from post five.

At 2-1 odds from the rail, Devilish Miss was second in her last start in 2:01.3. Trained by Les Givens, the CR Commando filly has been very consistent lately, showing a line of 5-2-2 across the board from 10 seasonal starts. Donnie Russell will drive for owners Nanticoke Racing Inc., Brandon Givens and Edward Maas III, all of Delaware.

Completing the field are Filly Photo (Jim Raymer, 5-2), Aiyanna (Jonathan Roberts, 12-1), Lady Viking (John Gazzerro, 8-1) and My Elusive Dream (Joe Offutt, 15-1).

Two early, non-wagering races will be held before the card. The first, a $14,700 division for 2-year-old pacing fillies, includes Lislea Isabella (Stephen Schoeffel), Southern Blue (Jonathan Roberts), Indeman (Frank Milby), Winsmith Brianna (Donnie Russell) and Proud Juliet (David Hill III).

A field of 3-year-old filly trotters will head to the gate for a purse of $14,300 as well. Molly McGuire (Betsy Brown), Pretty Pompano (Jonathan Roberts), Miss Katie Lane (Joe Offutt), Loss Limitation (George Banks) and Diamonds Forever (Bryce Truitt) encompass the field.

Even field set for Open Pace

A field of five pacers will line up for a purse of $8,000 in the Open event on Tuesday evening. Currently, the 2-1 choice is Southern Myles from the outside of the gate. The 3-year-old Nuclear High colt, owned by Gerald Kelly of Virginia, has recently been competing at The Meadowlands in the 3-year-old Open with some success. The trainee of Richard Hans shows a win his last start at Rosecroft in 1:52.4. Jonathan Roberts will drive the winner of over $150,000 lifetime.

From the rail, No Wishes will be a contender at 5-2 morning line odds. A winner against these on August 7 at Rosecroft, the eight-year-old No Nukes gelding shows a seasonal mark of 1:52.1. Frank Milby will drive for trainer “Bib” Roberts. No Wishes is owned by the Graham Grace Stable LLC, Adam Ainspan and Mary Roberts, all of Virginia.

The Fraternity Pan (Wayne Long, 3-1), Jennaration (Vic Kirby, 7-2) and Racing Naked (Donnie Russell, 4-1) will also contend.

Post time for Tuesday’s 15-race card is 5:35 p.m.
