Maryland Sire Stakes preliminaries continue at Ocean Downs

Berlin, MD — On Monday night (Aug. 30) the freshman pacing fillies and trotting colts and geldings kicked off the second round of prelims in the Maryland Sire Stakes at Ocean Downs.

The splits for pacing fillies went to post as races one and five.

In the first division, Jim Morand sent Lloyds Ladys (Rusty’s All In) out to take the lead at the quarter pole, then controlled the remaining fractions in the 2:02.4 mile. Camon Ban (Cam’s Rocket) took the place spot. Pam Wagner is the owner-breeder and John Wagner the trainer of Lloyds Ladys.

The second division of the pacing fillies also went to a Pam Wagner owned and bred filly. Janet’s For Real (Rusty’s For Real) cut a perfectly rated gate-to-wire mile with fractions of :29.3, 1:00.2, and 1:30, stopping the clock in 2:00. John Wagner was between the wheels and also trains the filly. Grey Rocket (Cam’s Rocket) was second.

The lone preliminary for the trotting colts and geldings stepped out as race three. Hoofbeats De Vie (Charlie De Vie) with Russell Foster in the bike picked up their second preliminary win with a five length victory over Bonjour Mary Ellen (Charlie De Vie) for owner-breeder Joie De Vie Farm and trainer Chris Lakata.

The freshman preliminaries continue on Wednesday (Sept. 1) at Ocean Downs.
