Mass Sire Stakes finals contested at Plainridge

Marlborough, MA — More than $80,000 was up for grabs as the spotlight turned to the 2-year-old finals of the Massachusetts Sire Stakes program on Thursday (Oct. 20) at Plainridge Racecourse.

Ideal Smile, owned by Mike Perpall and driven by Mike Eaton, won the $22,000 final for colts and gelding pacers in a swift 1:56.

Imagistic, owned by Raymond Campbell, Jr. and trained by George Ducharme, won the $21,720 colt and gelding trot final with Jim Hardy aboard. The winning time was 2:01.4.

The 2-year-old filly pace event with a purse of $21,600 was won by Stephen O’Toole’s Stella Bonasera with a 2:04 clocking. The winner is trained by Nancy Longobardi and was driven by Hardy.

In the $20,800 final for trotting fillies, RC Adamas, driven by Hardy (his third win in the finals), made it two trips to the winner’s circle for her owner, Raymond Campbell Jr., and the second training win of the afternoon for George Ducharme. The time of the mile was 2:07.2.
