Mathias “Mat” Meinzinger, 74, dies

Columbus, OH — Mathias “Mat” Meinzinger, 74, of Upper Brookville, N.Y., died Oct. 31, 2010, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born April 25, 1936, Mr. Meinzinger was the founder, CEO and President of Creative Bath Products, a prominent and well respected Long Island, N.Y. based company. Born in Hungary, he arrived in the United States in 1956 using old fashion values, hard work and imagination to successfully establish one of the most respected businesses in the home furnishings industry. He was awarded Long Island’s 1997 Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the Year.

Mr. Meinzinger so proudly enjoyed his long association with Standardbreds, from the breeding on through to racing, from the early days with most notably Sealed N Delivered, up to his most recent success with 3-year-old pacer One More Laugh. He valued his many good partnerships and friendships borne through his association with horse racing.

In addition to his horses, he exhibited a healthy passion for tennis and was an avid recreational swimmer.

Mr. Meinzinger lived a remarkable and fulfilling life. He will always remain an inspiration to all who had the privilege to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Christa; brother, Joseph: sisters, Theresa Baumann and Veronica Penka; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Vernon C. Wagner Funeral Home, 125 West Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. Viewing hours will be on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 2–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 3. Burial will take place at St Charles Cemetery, Conklin Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735.
