Matinee at Hicksville, Ohio

Edgerton, OH — The Defiance County Area Horsemen’s Association will sponsor matinee harness racing at the Defiance County Fairgrounds in Hicksville, Ohio, on Saturday (May 25). Post time for the first race will be at noon.

The rain date will be on Monday (May 27 – Memorial Day).

Entries will be taken on Wednesday (May 22) from 5-9 p.m. All entries should be phoned to 419.298.7408 or 419.630.5952.

Races will be classified by time bars, so horsemen should indicate how fast they would like to go when entering. Horses will be schooled behind the starting gate for at least one-half mile.

Entry fees will be free for members of the Defiance County Area Horsemen’s Association and $10 per horse for non-members. Memberships are $30 per individual and $40 per family.

Electronic eligibilities are not required, but each horse must have a current negative Coggins Test.

Pence’s Concessions will be present with a food stand, and there will be drawings for various prizes. The prizes include the following: a set of four tickets to the Cleveland Indians at Cincinnati Reds game on Sunday (July 7) at 1:10 p.m.; a set of four tickets to the Lake County Captains at Fort Wayne TinCaps game on Saturday (June 15) at 7:05 p.m.; and a set of two tickets to the Country Concert at Hickory Hill Lakes in Fort Loramie, Ohio on Saturday (July 13).
