BBS Sugarlight won the Olympic Trot on Saturday.

Staring from the second tier behind the gate in the 1-5/16th mile event, Maven was never a factor in the race.

The Norwegian-owned and trained BBS Sugarlight, driven by Peter Untersteiner, was in command from the start and won very easily in 1:53.4f, followed 3-1/2 lengths back by Oasis Bi, driven by Bjorn Goop, and Voltigeur de Myrt, driven by Gabriele Gelormini.

This was the third race this year for BBS Sugarlight, who last year was a rising star in Scandinavian harness racing. BBS Sugarlight won 11 races from 16 starts and close to $225,000 last year.

The victory in the Olympic Trot was worth $175,000.

Maven picked up a check of $3,400 for finishing sixth.
