Maytime Hall (John Campbell) won the $50,000 Hayes Memorial for three-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday afternoon at DuQuoin, Illinois State Fair. It was the seventh win in 11 career starts for the daughter of Cambest, who’s trained by Erv Miller. The time of 1:51.3 tied the stakes record.

Maytime Hall (John Campbell) won the $50,000 Hayes Memorial for three-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday afternoon at Du Quoin, Illinois State Fair.

The pace was set by Hypnotize (Anthony Morgan), who got to the quarter in :27.3 and held it there down the back stretch to the :55.3 half. Just past the half, Azrael (Joseph Putnam) came off the rail from fourth, flushing out Restive Hanover (Andy Miller), who was following along third behind Maytime Hall.

Restive Hanover was first on the outside through the turn and drifted a bit away from the field, creating an opening that Maytime Hall and John Campbell paced through and went on to take the lead away from Hypnotize. The duo held that lead to win by about 3/4 of a lengthdespite a very late surge by Restive Hanover. “With the right trip, she is capable of beating the best. I just sat back and she had a lot left when I asked her,” said driver John Campbell.

Hypnotize held for second, Restive Hanover (Andy Miller) was third and Azrael (Joseph Putnam) was fourth. Erv Miller trains Maytime Hall, who was competing in this race off a win in the Review Stake at Springfield on August 16.
