Mckenry and Lindy’s Big Bang take Rosecroft Sunday night features

Ft. Washington, MD — When Bret Brittingham and Mckenry show up at Rosecroft Raceway, good things tend to happen. Sunday night (April 7) was no exception as the 7-year old son of McArdle cleared Hickory Aloha after the first quarter mark and sprinted to a two length win in 1:51.3 in the $10,000 Open Handicap.

Peter and Toni Gray own the three-time winner in 2019 and he is trained by Don Brittingham.

The 2018 Dexter Cup winner, Lindy’s Big Bang, got off to a very slow start for his new connections. The son of Explosive Matter was a soundly beaten favorite in his 2019 debut, then scratched sick. Since then, however, he’s won three straight at Rosecroft, taking Sunday night’s featured trot in 1:54.2.

The winner of $144,382 last year cleared eventual second place finisher Speed It after the opening quarter and rolled to victory for trainer-driver Ricky Still and owner Midsize Construction Incorporated.

Tyler Davis started a good night for the Davis family as he won the opener with In Record Time in 1:52 for owner WG LLC and trainer Michael Greene. Davis notched a driving double when he stormed home with Boot Leg at 34-1 for trainer John Hollingsworth and owner Twin Ponds Stable. While the payout of $70.60 was big, it wasn’t the biggest of the night.

Sean Bier sat last with Foxland at the halfway point of a $6,500 conditioned event in race nine. When Manattack re-took the lead and posted a :55.1 half, the closers began their assault. Talking Blues ranged up and fought the leader on the backside and by the three-quarter pole Bier had Foxland three-wide and an upset became a real possibility.

By the top of the stretch Foxland was on even terms with Talking Blues and out kicked him by less than a length in 1:52.4. The 70-1 shot returned $142.80 for owner-trainer Jason Walters.

Eddie Davis Jr. got home a for a second straight week with Trump That Rusty in an eye popping 1:53. The Son of Rusty’s For Real-Alberts Drifter N is owned by Jeff Billings and trainer Dylan Davis.

Allan Davis took a conditioned event with Rock N Row for owner Donald Fowler and trainer Willard Reynolds, rounding out a solid night for the Davis family.

The fastest mile of the night came from 19-year old provisional driver Declan Donoway who guided Prince Clyde to a win in the $10,000-$12,500 claiming handicap in 1:50.3 for owners Lorenzo De Simone and Michael Assante and trainer Darren Ferrell.
