Lexington, KY — The Meadowlands Summer Mixed Sale has been moved, with a new sale date of Sunday, August 7, the day after the $1.5 million Hambletonian. The sale, presented by Tattersalls Sales Co., had originally been scheduled for July 17. Entries for the sale will be taken until July 8.

In making today’s announcement, sale manager Geoffrey Stein said that company officials and consignors felt conditions would be more favorable for a sale later in the season, closer to the end of the Meadowlands summer meet.

“It’s still relatively early in the racing season, and many owners of 2-year-olds expressed an interest in having more time to showcase their young horses,” Stein said.

“The August sale will be ideal for those who may have been considering selling in the fall or winter anyway, as selling later in the summer gives them a perfect opportunity to raise capital right before the yearling sales.”
