East Rutherford, NJ — The Meadowlands Racetrack is hosting its first ever Battle for the Best Burger on Saturday (May 14) in the Backyard of the Track Grandstand. The contest offers a $1,500 grand prize with $1,000 for second place and $500 for third.

This free event runs from 6-10 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come out and taste some of the best local burgers. Two lucky fans will win a spot at the judging table and help determine the top three burgers.

“This event is another opportunity for us to create a unique event to expose new fans to our beautiful facility while also reaching out to the local community,” said Meadowlands General Manager and CEO Jason M. Settlemoir. “Plus, who doesn’t love a good, juicy burger!”

Area restaurants and professional cooks who think they have the best burger in town are invited to register to participate by visiting the sign-up page at www.playmeadowlands.com.

Road Grub Mobile, Little Bite of Paradise, South + Pine American Eatery, Cheech A’ Cini’s Italian Grills, Taste of Brazil on Wheels, Left Bank Burger Bar and Escape Montclair are all signed up to participate. With registration limited to the first ten entrants, only three spots remain as of April 19. There is a $100 registration fee that must be paid prior to the start of cooking.

In addition to the Burger Battle, live harness racing action kicks off at 7:15 p.m.
