Meadows 2:00 Club Chinese Auction set for Dec. 17

by Janet Campbell, president, 2:00 Club at the Meadows

Washington, PA — The 2:00 Club at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino is very pleased to announce the upcoming 22nd annual Chinese Auction for Charity will take place on Friday, Dec. 17.

This event has raised nearly $138,000 over the past 21 years for the benefit of worthy local charities as well as New Vocations Racehorse Adoption in Ohio and the Standardbred Retirement Foundation in New Jersey.

Doors officially open at 7 p.m. with the drawings to begin around 9 p.m. Food will be provided along with a cash bar. Enjoy live entertainment and snacks while making your selections. Since there is live racing that day, prizes can be viewed and tickets can be purchased beginning at 1 p.m. on the day of the event; winners need not be present for the drawing.

All records were broken last year and we are hopeful to repeat our success! Please help make this our best auction yet. Prizes are coming in, but we still need yours. Please consider donating a prize to add to our prize list. Some suggestions for your gift donation are gift certificates for area restaurants; basket of cheer; holiday decorative item or apparel; tickets to sporting events or plays; horse supplies; items related to your business; lottery tickets; and horse related jewelry or clothing. We welcome all gifts and they are tax deductible.

The Meadows and our horsemen have been extremely generous in their past support and we are counting on them again this year. Last year $11,875 was raised for our charities plus $3,000 for the Lebanon Horsemen’s Relief Fund (to help with the tragic barn fire at the racetrack). Our goal is high and we are determined to reach it.

Prizes can be left at the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association office during regular business hours. Please be sure to include your name with your donation. Prizes can also be sent to Janet Campbell, 9711 Downing Place, North Huntingdon, PA 15642 (724.331.2660 cell). Please contact jjcamp1@comcast.net if you have any questions.

Bring a friend and join us. It is always lots of fun and you could win one or more of the many great donated prizes.
