Michael Petit to headline Plainridge fundraiser for fire victims

from Plainridge Park Casino

Plainville, MA — The tragic fire at Classy Lane Farms occurred during the off season at Plainridge Park. Though it is busily prepping for the April 11 opener, the local harness racing community will first take an evening to remember all those impacted.

The New England Amateur Harness Drivers Club, a 501C-3 charitable organization, supported by the Standardbred Owners of Massachusetts, the Harness Horsemen’s Association of New England and Plainridge Park Casino, will host a fundraiser headlined by noted local comedian Mike Petit on the evening of Saturday (March 26).

“The Classy Lane fire can only be described as horrific,” said Billy Abdelnour, President of the NEAHDC. “None of us in this industry ever want to endure a tragedy like that. It’s our worst fear. The New England harness racing community wants to do whatever we can to aid our brothers and sisters to the north.”

Petit, who hails from nearby Attleboro, Mass., is probably best known locally for his appearances on the New England Sports Network. Mike also has a national following, appearing frequently on Comedy Central, and has made regular appearances at venues throughout Las Vegas.

The fundraising event will be held in the Boylston Room at Plainridge Park Casino. Doors open at 7 p.m. Post time for the event will be at 8 p.m.
