Michael Weiner, 55, dies

Columbis, OH — Michael Scott Weiner, 55, of Monticello, N.Y., died Dec. 26, 2020.

He was the son of Carole (Ames) and the late Arnold L., born on Jan. 14, 1965, in New York City.

The ultimate shortstop and formidable competitor, Mr. Weiner enjoyed baseball, then softball, golf, bowling and harness racing. He had a lifetime of success on the track as an owner, trainer and amateur driver. His final win as an owner came Dec. 23, 2020, in the ninth race at Monticello with his own KJ Brent.

A lifelong Mets and Jets fan, Mr. Weiner lived for sports, gambling, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee. He will live on in the hearts of all that knew him, as a competitor, as a coach and most of all as one of the funniest, most brutally honest, amazing human beings.

He is survived by his loving mother, Carole; sister, Jodi Dijennaro; fiancé, Dr. Jennifer Lowrey; and his adoring beagle, Lucy. He was preceded in death by his loving father, Arnold.

A visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 30) at Colonial-Ramsay Funeral Home, 55 St. John St., Monticello, NY 12701. A graveside service will be held on Thursday (Dec. 31) at 11 a.m. at New Montefiore Cemetery.
