Washington, PA — Jans Luck, a winner of more than $1 million lifetime, will be retired Wednesday night (Nov. 14) after she leads the post parade for the Preferred Mare Pace at The Meadows, her home track.

She has been purchased privately by Hanover Shoe Farms, where she will begin a new career in the breeding shed this spring.

The daughter of Camluck-Jans Scooter took a mark of 1:50.4f and, after her final race last week, banked $1,015,484 for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver-Bruscemi, LLC. One of The Meadows’ most prolific pacers in the track’s 50-year history, she won 38 of 103 starts over the Washington, Pennsylvania five-eighths-mile oval. More than $600,000 of her career bankroll was earned at her home track.

She made her Meadows debut on February 8, 2006 with a victory, and added the other bookend to her career last Wednesday (Nov. 7) with a victory as well.

Jans Luck, trained by Ron Burke and driven throughout the bulk of her races by Dave Palone, will lead the post parade for Wednesday’s seventh race. She will then stop at the winner’s circle and have her shoes removed, harness racing’s traditional symbolic farewell to one of the track’s stars.
