Mimi Marguerite rolls to second straight win at Running Aces

Columbus, MN — One of the featured events on the Sunday night (Sept. 9) program at Running Aces was the $8,500 Minnesota-Sired 3-year-old filly trot, with seven sophomores lining up for the final prep race before the upcoming Night of Champions on Saturday (Sept. 15).

Rock On Ruby (Lemoyne Svendsen) was fastest off the gate and grabbed early command from her outside post seven, and Mimi Marguerite (James Yoder) quickly got rolling from post five to challenge for the lead, and they were battling for the front past the :29.2 quarter.

Mimi Marguerite cleared to the front at the three-eighths juncture and trotted comfortably from there, posting a half in :58.2 and three-quarters in 1:28.1 with Rock On Ruby stalking in the pocket. As they turned for home Rock On Ruby came after the leader, but Mimi Marguerite remained strong and held sway to the wire for her second straight win, stopping the timer in 1:58.4 for a new lifetime mark. Rock On Ruby was three-quarters of a length back in second and longshot The Sweetest Thing (Dean Magee) posted a good effort for third.

Mimi Marguerite ($2.60) is owned by Jeanne Marquis and Jesse DeLong and trained by Justin Anfinson.

Bringoverthemoney (Rick Magee) dominated the $4,250 Minnesota-Sired 3-year-old male trot non-wagering event with a gate-to-wire tally in 1:59.2 for his tenth win in 16 starts this season. The impressive son of Money Talks is the early favorite for the $35,000 championship race on Saturday.

Live racing continues at Running Aces on Tuesday (Sept. 11) with first post at 6 p.m. (CDT). There are several carryovers for the Tuesday card. The 50-cent Early Pick-4 carryover is $1,634.86, the 50-cent Early Pick-3 carryover is $1,131.87, the 20-cent Jackpot Pick-5 carryover is $39,285.25 and the 50-cent Hi-5 carryover is $1,703.07.
