Miss Versatility Series heads to Vernon

by Dustin Ross, regional racing operations manager, Tioga Downs

Nichols, NY — The third leg of the Miss Versatility Trotting Series will line up behind the Vernon Downs starting gate on Thursday, September 11, slated as race seven on the nine-race card.

Falls For You will look to redeem herself from her miscue behind the gate in the recent $250,000 Breeders Crown Final at Mohawk on August 30. Brian Sears will make the trip back to his hometown to drive the 4-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide for top trainer Trond Smedshammer.

Falls For You has won three of her 11 starts in 2008 and established a new lifetime mark of 1:52.3 in the final leg of the Classic Series at The Meadowlands on July 19. Falls For You established a new track record for 4-year-old trotting mares at Vernon Downs on August 15 in the $133,500 Conway Hall, winning by seven lengths with Brian Sears in 1:53.1.

Falls For You will also be joined by stablemate and world champion Godiva Hall from the Trond Smedshammer stable. The Like A Prayer mare will be reunited with driver Jimmy Marohn, Jr., who was at the controls the night Godiva Hall set a new world record for 4-year-old trotting mares on the five-eighths-mile track at Tioga Downs in 1:53.4.

Godiva Hall has banked $211,796 in 2008.

Godiva Hall has won two of her nine seasonal starts, with the majority of her $211,796 bankroll coming from her victory in the $250,000 final of the Classic Series at The Meadowlands on July 26.

The $125,000 Miss Versatility Final will be part of the Little Brown Jug card on Thursday, September 18, at the Delaware County Fair in Delaware, Ohio.
