Campbellville, ON — Horseplayers from all over will be locked in on Saturday’s (Oct. 14) final race (race 12) at Mohawk Racetrack for the latest Jackpot Hi-5 mandatory payout.

The carryover heading into Saturday’s mandatory payout is C$978,779.26, which is the largest pool ever carried over into a Mohawk or Woodbine Standardbred Jackpot Hi-5 mandatory payout.

The current carryover began forming on July 6 and grew until last Saturday (Oct. 7). A total of C$261,179 in new money was wagered into the Jackpot Hi-5 during Saturday’s final offering of the wager ahead of the mandatory payout.

With nearly C$1 million being carried over into Saturday, the total Jackpot Hi-5 pool could reach C$3 million. The last two Standardbred Hi-5 mandatory payouts (March 11, 2017 and Dec. 23, 2016) saw C$1.4 million and C$2 million of new money wagered, respectively.

This Saturday’s Jackpot Hi-5 event is a non-winners of 3 races or C$42,000 lifetime featuring an overflow field of 12 pacers. The purse for the event is C$30,000 and all starters will receive money.

The Jackpot Hi-5 requires horseplayers to select the top five finishers in order and features a 20-cent minimum wager and a 15 percent takeout.

The Jackpot Hi-5 will wrap up a strong 12-race card on Saturday, which also features the C$1.8 million Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals. The top 2- and 3-year-olds in Ontario will compete in eight C$225,000 championship races.
