Moiseyev seeking rare threepeat

by Frank Salive, for Western Fair Raceway

London, ON — When the 2007 Molson Pace eliminations turn to the gate on Friday night (May 25) at Western Fair, driver Jack Moiseyev will be attempting a feat that only one other driver has accomplished before him in the 35-year history of the London track’s signature Free For All event — and that’s to win the Molson Pace in three consecutive years.

Moiseyev piloted 2005 and 2006 winners Ponder and Our Lucky Killean, and he’s returning to pilot the defending Molson Pace champion. Though winless in 11 starts in 2007, Our Lucky Killean has flashed many encouraging signs this year, including a hard closing third place finish to Maltese Artist in the Battle of Lake Erie when “Lucky” appeared to be solidly locked in for the entire final turn on April 21st in Cleveland and was timed in 1:50 flat.

The only previous driver to win the Molson Pace in three straight years was Doug Brown from 1981-83 with Lime Time, Perfect Out, and Triple S.

Western Fair will be providing live trackside TV interviews of the Molson Pace elimination winners and the Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold Series 3-year-old filly pace eliminations on Friday night, with post time at 7:35 p.m. The C$250,000 Molson Pace final and C$130,000 OSS Gold Final will be contested on June 1.
