Moments Of Joy game in winning the Mares Select Pace at Dover on Wednesday night

Dover, DE – Moments Of Joy turned misfortune into fortune and found the winner’s circle as she was game in winning the Mares Select Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday (Feb.3) night.

Last week a knee boot slipped and forced her into an equipment break. This week, it was a perfect journey by Victor Kirby, which proved the difference between victory and defeat. Moments Of Joy and Edge of Eternity left alertly and established early race positioning at the quarter pole. Andrew McCarthy eased Edge Of Eternity back to the front before blistering the opening quarter in :27 flat with the half being reached in :55.4.

Anytime N pulled first-over past the five-eighths, but offered only mild pressure. Edge Of Eternity continued on the lead and reached the three-quarters in 1:23.2. Moments Of Joy continued to stalk the leader from the pocket position. Moments Of Joy won by a nose in 1:51.2 as the lukewarm 9/5 race favorite.

Moments Of Joy (Western Terror) is owned and trained by Bryan Truitt. Victor Kirby drove perfectly for the win. Edge Of Eternity finished a hard fought second for trainer Chuck Crissman Jr. Andrew McCarthy drove the mare tonight as her regular driver Corey Callahan was out due to a back injury from earlier in the week.

Anytime N finished third for trainer Josh Green and driver Dexter Dunn. On Thursday night (Feb.4) Dover Downs will offer a $10,000 guaranteed Pick-5 wager with a fifty-cent minimum. The takeout is 15%. The wager will begin on the 9th race of the betting card. Post time at Dover Downs is 4:30 p.m.
