Moneyman Mikki collects 2nd straight in Meadows series; Merriman wins 5

Washington, PA – Moneyman Mikki stalked Battleshoe Hart from the pocket, then blew by him in the sloppy stretch to capture Friday’s (March 15) $10,000 second leg of the Wilbur Zendt Memorial Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. It was the second straight win for Moneyman Mikki in the series for 3- and 4-year-old horses, colts and geldings.

Battleshoe Hart, also an opening-leg winner, deflected the first-over challenge of Chiseled In Faith but couldn’t shake Moneyman Mikki, who was sent off the 1-2 favorite. The 4-year-old Always B Miki-Not Before Eight gelding eschewed the Lightning Lane and attacked Battleshow Hart outside for Dave Palone. He scored in 1:54.1, a length better than Fredericktown Lad, while Battleshoe Hart saved show.

Rick Hercules trains Moneyman Mikki, who won his third straight overall, for Jack Piatt III, Howard Alexander, Joseph Seman and William Schmid.

Aaron Merriman piloted five winners and Palone three on the 14-race card.
