Moneyman Mikki completes Zendt Memorial sweep with fifth straight win

Washington, PA — Denied the early lead, Moneyman Mikki unleashed a powerful stretch drive that carried him to his fifth consecutive victory — and a three-leg series sweep — in Friday’s (March 22) $17,300 final of the Wilbur Zendt Memorial Pace for 3- and 4-year-old horses, colt and geldings. The action occurred at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Dave Palone sent Moneyman Mikki toward the front from post three only to be parked by Shethinksistillcare. Moneyman Mikki found a seat third and launched his winning rally from there, moving three wide into the final turn. The 4-year-old Always B Miki-Not Before Eight gelding quickly put the field in his rear-view mirror, scoring in a career-best 1:52. Senditin Jim finished second at 35-1, beaten 2-1/2 lengths, with Chiseled In Faith third.

Rick Hercules trains Moneyman Mikki for Jack Piatt III, Howard Alexander, Joseph Seman and William Schmid.

Chris Page and trainer Michael Burke teamed for three wins on the 13-race card while Jeremy Indof also enjoyed a triple.
