Monticello, NY — With the permission of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, Monticello Raceway will add Saturday, May 2, to its live racing schedule. Post time will be at the usual 1:10 p.m.

“We thank the Racing Board for letting us add this day, which is also the date of the Kentucky Derby,” noted Shawn Wiles, assistant general manager. “On that day besides our live race card and the simulcasts from Churchill Downs, we will be celebrating Sullivan County’s Bicentennial.”

“May 2 will be a day of family fun here at the raceway,” Wiles added. “Besides placing bets on the Derby and our live card we’re going to have an old fashioned hat competition and an exhibit from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame which is entitled “This Is Harness Racing.”

A band will be playing during the afternoon and there will be drink specials featuring $4.00 Mint Juleps and food will be available from stands set-up on the track’s apron. And as an added attraction, Ms Monticello Raceway-2008, the lovely Ms. Courtney Blauvelt, will be on hand for photos and to help judge the hat contest.

After the Saturday, May 2, race card the raceway will continue with its usual Monday through Thursday afternoon racing schedule with all post times at 1:10 p.m.
