Monticello adds special Sunday program on June 12

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — Monticello Raceway will have a special Sunday race card on June 12.

On that day the Mighty M will present yet another industry first when the horses in every one of the 13 carded races will be driven by an amateur driver who holds either a full or provisional license from the United States Trotting Association.

The added Sunday program is being sponsored by the North American Amateur Drivers Association in conjunction with the Edward Weiner and Edward Yarock Equine Scholarship Fund and the Donald Meyer Equine Scholarship Fund.

On Sunday, Dave Yarock, an avid amateur driver and the administrator of the equine scholarship funds, will present checks to the award recipients who are children of harness horsemen. They will all be on hand to receive their awards.

Among the 13 races which will be presented on Sunday are three divisions of the C.K.G. Billings Harness Driving Championship Series.

Post time will be at the usual 12:50 p.m.
