Monticello donates to the Federation for the Homeless

Monticello, NY — In an effort to brighten the Thanksgiving holiday for the area’s less fortunate, Monticello Casino and Raceway employees got together on Nov. 20 and decided to donate their Shoprite gift cards to the Federation for the Homeless.

The gift cards were a Thanksgiving gift from management to the employees of Monticello Casino & Raceway but many showed generosity and decided that perhaps others might need them more.

“Twenty-four employees opened their hearts, as they so often do, and donated their gift card to be used by the less fortunate,” said Eileen Cavanaugh, the director of the facility’s Human Resources Department. “Each gift card is worth $10 and can be used toward Thanksgiving dinner shopping.”

Anyone wishing to participate and donate can do so by sending their donation to Kathy Kreiter, Director, the Federation for the Homeless, by calling 845.194.2604 or by dropping off non-perishable food items at 9 Monticello Street, Monticello, NY 12701.
