Monticello joins ‘Back To The Track’ on July 17

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — With the permission of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, Monticello Raceway will have a special Sunday afternoon racing program on July 17 to coincide with the industry-wide “Back to The Track” promotion.

On that day the Mighty M hopes to bring back some of the former faithful and will be offering a plethora of enticements to do so. Besides exciting harness racing the raceway is also offering drawings for rides in the starting gate; free live racing programs; food and drink specials; and buffet dinner giveaways.

And as part of the attraction on the national harness racing promotional night, Howard Oil will show his prowess on that program when the veteran announcer calls the races from the winner’s circle on a portable microphone.

As an added attraction, Oil will be joined in the winner’s circle that afternoon by the track’s ace handicapper, Catskill Steve, who’ll handicap each race for the attending fans. Many players follow the picks of Catskill Steve and July 17 will be a good day to meet him up close and personal.

Post time for the July 17 card will be at the usual 12:50 p.m.
