Monticello Marathon to kick off 10 consecutive racing days

Monticello, NY — On December 15 Monticello Raceway has scheduled its Monticello Marathon, a trotting race at a distance of 1-3/4 miles and there has been considerable interest in the event.

There’s a posted purse somewhere between $5,000 and $7,500 depending on the caliber of the entrants and the entry box for the race will close at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10. Anyone interested in entering can still do so by calling the track’s Director of Racing, Eric Warner, at (845) 794-4100, ext: 557.

Whether the race fills or not, Monday, December 15, begins ten consecutive race cards at the Mighty M.

Starting that Monday and continuing through Wednesday, December 24, there will be ten consecutive days of racing including programs on Friday, December 19, Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21.

Christmas Day, December 25, will be a dark day but racing will then continue with live cards on Friday, December 26, and Saturday, December 27. There will be no racing on Sunday, December 28.

The month will close out with three racing programs from Monday, December 29, through Wednesday, December 31, followed by three consecutive race days on Thursday, January 1, Friday, January 2, and Saturday, January 3.
