Monticello, NY — Monticello Raceway, in conjunction with the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Association, is offering a one-month series for $4,000 claiming pacers. Called the Golden Storm GB the series is named for the pacer who currently holds the track record for most wins in a single season. During the 1985 campaign Golden Storm GB won an incredible 22 races.

The series, which is slated to get underway on October 3, will be contested on Fridays throughout the month of October. Four legs, each worth $4,000, will culminate in a $10,000 final on October 31 for the top eight point earners in the series.

Races will be conducted under the auspices of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board and there will be separate divisions for fillies and mares and colts and geldings.

The series is open to trainers who have had more starts at Monticello Raceway than anywhere else during 2008 and horses are eligible to be claimed only by trainers who have had more starts here than at other racetracks.

Claiming for $4,000 can be done the first time a horse starts in the series and the price jumps to $5,000 for the second start in the series. After that no more claims can be made.

To make a pacer eligible a nomination fee of $100 (U.S. funds) is due on or before Wednesday, September 25.

A complete set of conditions for the Golden Storm GB Series can be obtained by calling Monticello Raceway’s Director of Racing Eric Warner at (845) 794-4100, ex: 557.
