Monticello Raceway to host Sires Stakes for 3-year-old pacing fillies

Monticello, NY — The New York Sires Stakes program returns to Monticello Raceway on Monday (July 15) as 3-year-old pacing fillies take the stage.

Four of the five top point earners for this age, sex and gait are in to go. Missing is the No. 1 point leader and earner, Zero Tolerance, who is racing Saturday at The Meadowlands in the Mistletoe Shalee.

On tap are two divisions of sires stakes, each vying for a purse of $56,500, and each dash is a five-horse field.

The first dash is race two on the program. DD Delicious (post two) is a bay filly by Art Major, trained by Travis Alexander, with Matt Kakaley down to drive. She won a division of the sires stakes at Tioga Downs, where she scored in 1:54.1. She has picked up a check in every start this year. DD Delicious is third in the point standings.

Chase You (post five) started the year in the Excelsior A class. The American Ideal filly won two times in that class, before jumping up to the top level of sires stakes, where she posted a 1:53.2 score in a division on June 28 at Yonkers. She has earned $81,550 thus far this season. Chase You is trained by Michelle Crawford for owner Ted Cupp. Scott Zeron will drive.

Meghan Lynn (Joe Bongiorno) will score from post four. Jennifer Bongiorno trains the American Ideal filly for owner Crawford Farms Racing.

The second division (race eight) is led by So Awesome (post three), who is second in the point standings with 137 and will look to close the gap on leader Zero Tolerance, who has 150 points. So Awesome finished second last year in the NYSS final at Yonkers. She has finished off the board only once this year, as her slate includes one win, four place finishes and one show performance in seven starts. Tyler Buter will drive the So Surreal filly who is trained by Scott DiDomenico.

JK American Beauty (American Ideal) will start from the rail for trainer Nancy Johansson. She took her lifetime mark of 1:51 earlier this year at The Meadowlands. She won a sires stakes heat on June 19 at Buffalo Raceway in 1:54. The filly is owned by 3 Brothers Stables and will be driven by Jordan Stratton.

Also on the card are two $15,000 divisions of the Excelsior A and a lone $6,800 heat of the Excelsior B.

Post time for the eight-race card is 12:50 p.m.
