Monticello to add 50-cent trifectas

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — In what is believed to be a first in New York State, Monticello Raceway will add 50-cent trifectas to its wagering format beginning on Monday, November 3.

“By adding 50-cent wagers on trifectas, racing fans can purchase more combinations at a lower cost and with more combinations the chances of winning naturally are greater,” said Maureen Flynn, Monticello Raceway’s Director of Mutuels and Simulcasts.

Trifecta wagering is offered in every race on each day’s program.

To win a trifecta, racing fans must correctly select the exact order of the first three finishers in a race. Of course, many bettors like to criss-cross their selections for more combinations and have a better chance of winning and with a lower purchase price per ticket the chances of winning are better.

And as an added attraction, the betting pools figure to be larger and fans will be wagering on races with full fields.

The 50-cent trifecta now joins the 10-cent superfecta wager which has proved to be a fan favorite. The 10-cent trifecta wager is offered in races three, seven and ten, daily.
