Monticello to add Fridays in July

by John Manzi, publicity director, Monticello Raceway

Monticello, NY — Beginning on July 1 and continuing throughout the month, Monticello Raceway will add Fridays, as well as the Sundays of July 20 and July 27, to its live racing schedule.

All post times will continue at 1:10 p.m. (EDT) with just one exception.

On Friday, July 4, the Raceway will stage its 39th annual fireworks extravaganza after the races and on that date, first post will be at 7:30 p.m. It will be the only night-time race card during the 2008 season.

“The fireworks will be presented approximately 15 minutes after the racing program ends on Friday night, July 4,” said Shawn Wiles, the Raceway’s Assistant General Manager. “And since there is free admission to the entire facility it’s a great opportunity to come and see the fireworks close-up on the track’s apron where the best view is afforded.”

The fireworks extravaganza will again be the product of the world renowned Garden State Fireworks Company and will be displayed above the infield of the racetrack as has been done in the past.

Along with the live racing programs in July, the Mighty M also offers simulcast wagering daily and nightly on both harness and thoroughbred races from tracks around the country and at some harness facilities in Canada.

Besides the racing and the fireworks extravaganza, fans 18 years and older can also enjoy the video gaming machines and the nightly entertainment at Monticello Gaming & Raceway.
