Montrell Teague wins King Pace at Freehold

from Freehold Raceway

Freehold, NJ — With talented 19-year-old Montrell Teague in the sulky, Devil’s Grin went wire-to-wire in winning the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Pace on Friday (Jan. 15) at Freehold Raceway.

Ohoka Qtee N, with Don Simmonds up, finished two lengths behind the winner and it was almost another eight lengths back to Uncle Daddy who wound up third with George Polk, Jr. steering.

Montrell Teague, the son of one of the top trainers in the sport, George Teague, Jr., could not have been more thrilled after the race.

“To win this race is very significant to me and I am so happy to have done it.”

Devil’s Grin returned $3.00 to win and sparked a $44.40 exacta and a $152.60 trifecta.

Live racing at Freehold Raceway continues on Saturday (Jan. 16) and there will be a special holiday program on Monday (Jan. 18). Post time on both days is at 12:30 p.m.
