Saco, ME — The eighth annual Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association golf tournament took place on Monday (Aug. 22) at Biddeford-Saco Country Club in Saco.
Hole sponsors, prize donors, golfers and volunteers all contributed to the more than $3,500 raised for the MSBOA Scholarship Fund.
Of the 14 teams participating, top honors for low gross went to Steve Lacasse, Marc Lacasse, John Lizotte and Brian Rix. Low net winners were Bob Noiles, George Blaisdell, Rick Hebert and Ron Hebert.
The ever popular “Needs Lasix” award, given to the foursome tallying the highest score of the day, went to the Athearn Stable entry of Mark Athearn, Matthew Athearn, and maiden golfers, Kyle Athearn and Adrian Wisher Jr.
Since its inception in 2009, the annual tournament has raised more than $20,000 for students with ties to Maine’s harness racing industry.
