MSOA announces stallion auction to benefit scholarship fund

Washington, PA — The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to announce the donation of two breedings to the stallion Trainforthefuture, standing in Pennsylvania, to benefit the MSOA collegiate scholarship fund.

John C. Green, owner of Pinnacle Racing, Ltd., is donating the breedings and commented, “We think that this is a great program, a great opportunity to keep young people interested in Standardbred racing and a chance to help some of the youth that can benefit from a scholarship. I have two daughters, Emily and Rachael, one is college-aged and the other is in high school. Both are licensed horse owners in Pennsylvania and all of us see the benefit of such a scholarship program.”

Trainforthefuture, a son of Donerail, is the sire of the 2010 national season’s leader on a half, Future Night Train, an Ohio Sire Stakes winning gelding trained by Jim Pollock, Jr. He is also the sire of Rose Run Marcus and Ohio Sire Stakes winning filly Rose Run Marci.

“The MSOA started our scholarship program in 2009 and it is just continuing to grow year by year,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “It is great to see horse owners jump on board and join our efforts. It just proves how important this program is to everyone. We certainly thank the Green family and Pinnacle Racing for their donation.”

The breedings will be offered to the public by way of a silent auction. Bids must be mailed, faxed or delivered in person to the MSOA Office prior to April 30. The breedings will be offered separately to the two individual highest bids. If you wish to bid on both breedings, please clearly state that in your bid, otherwise it will be assumed that you are bidding on one breeding only.

Ten percent of the winning bids must be paid by May 15, and that payment is non-refundable. The remaining 90 percent is due upon a live foal next spring.

Trainforthefuture is standing the 2011 season at Jonalee Farms in York, Pa.
